Description du cours
This course explores the practical applications of core mechanical engineering concepts like fluid mechanics, dynamics, and vibrations. Through hands-on experiments, interactive demonstrations, and guest lectures, students will see how these principles shape the world around them. The program includes lab visits and engaging activities designed to inspire curiosity and provide insight into the exciting possibilities of mechanical engineering. The planned activities for the course are outlined below:
Day 1: Applications of Fluid Mechanics in Real Life
Students will explore key concepts such as the Ideal Gas Law, Bernoulli’s Equation, and Manometry. These topics will be presented in an accessible and engaging manner, supported by in-class experiments and visual demonstrations to illustrate their practical applications.
Day 2: Applications of Aerospace Engineering in Industry
This day focuses on the principles of speed of sound and Mach number, along with their significance in aircraft design and operation. Students will engage in hands-on activities. In the afternoon, a guest lecturer will deliver an interactive talk on the applications of aerospace engineering in aircraft and drone technology.
Day 3: Applications of Mechanical Vibration in Engineering
Students will be exposed to the concepts of mechanical vibration and their relevance in engineering. The day will feature in-class experiments and group activities designed to develop practical understanding.
Day 4: Applications of Dynamics in Real Life
The principles of dynamics will come to life through experiential learning activities and interactive demonstrations. A guest lecturer will provide insights into the job market for mechanical engineering graduates in Canada, introducing students to potential career paths and industry opportunities.
Day 5: General Applications of Mechanical Concepts and Course Conclusion
The final day will showcase the broader applications of mechanical engineering concepts. Students will have the opportunity to visit various labs within the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department to see engineering principles in action. The program will conclude with a course summary and a fun quiz to reinforce learning and celebrate their participation.
