Description du cours
Great characters are the foundation of any good story. In this course, students will be guided through the process of creating their own unique characters for use in film or TV screenplays. Everything from backstories to costume design to character psychology will be covered using tips and techniques drawn from some of the industry's top screenwriting experts. Students will have the opportunity to share their original creations with the class, as well as watch and discuss examples from the media, in an encouraging and respectful learning environment. This course is designed to give prospective students a preview of the Carleton Film Studies department's "Film and Media Practice" course, which covers all aspects of short film production, including screenwriting, cinematography, sound recording and video editing.
