Description du cours

In this immersive course, students will explore the relationships between ecosystems, wildlife, and human communities, focusing on conservation and our role as individuals. Through a blend of discussions and hands-on activities, we will explore the key areas of wildlife conservation and ecology.

Students will explore topics that discuss ecological research, habitat restoration, zoo’s role in conservation, urban environments, and endangered and threatened species. A significant emphasis will also be placed on community-based initiatives, highlighting the vital role local communities play in sustainable resource management and stewardship of ecosystems.

Finally, students will engage in ecological research and monitoring by using tools like iNaturalist and Ebird to survey local areas. The course will discuss how such efforts are then used by researchers to inform management practices, with field trips to observe local conservation projects around the city.

By the end of the course, students will develop a comprehensive understanding of ecological principles and conservation practices, empowering them to become informed advocates for environmental and ecological stewardship. Join us as we connect life, landscapes, and people in the quest for a sustainable future!
