Course Description

This mini-course aims to improve the mental health literacy of students with the hope that more education will lead to better understanding of mental health. In a didactic lesson, students will learn the difference between mental health and mental illness. Students will learn what factors impact mental health (e.g., biological, environmental) and the role of stigma in seeking help. Group breakout sessions will allow students to discuss ways to promote mental wellness. A debrief session will follow, where each group will share their conclusions. Findings will produce action items for students to take with them to promote their own well-being.
