Enrichment Mini-Course Program (EMCP) – Orientation Day 2023

We are delighted that you have chosen Carleton University for an enrichment program this year!

The Enrichment Mini-Courses Program (EMCP) has given thousands of students the chance to experience post-secondary education. EMCP also showcases Carleton’s exceptional academic programs and cutting-edge facilities.

Your Orientation Day

What: EMCP Orientation Day

When: Sunday, April 30, 2023

Who: Your student and one (1) family member (parent/guardian)

Where: Carleton University Campus – various locations*

*Students and their guest will meet in the Health Science, Minto Centre or Nicol Building for a welcome presentation. After, your instructors will walk you to your home room classroom and provide more information about your class activities for the week.

  • Please view the table below for your course orientation check in time and location. You will be on campus for roughly 1.5 hours for EMCP Orientation
  • Please make sure you know your course code for the week! You can locate your course number below and make note of your designated orientation check-in time.
  • Our EMCP staff will be available on campus to direct you to your respective locations.

Your EMCP Week at Carleton

We are delighted to introduce you to our excellent academic programs offered in a friendly, informal atmosphere of the EMCP. We want you to feel at home and part of the Carleton community. During your week at Carleton, you will have a chance to explore and enjoy the University and its beautiful campus. To make your EMCP week memorable, each student will receive a commemorative Carleton EMCP T-shirt and a certificate for successfully completing the program.

Attendance

Students are required to attend their assigned EMCP course each day, just like attending a regular school day. Attendance will be taken by each instructor at the beginning of the day, and after lunch. If you will be late, leaving early, or not attending a day of the EMCP course week, you must email emcp@carleton.ca. If possible, please let your instructor know as well.

Need help finding your classroom on the first day?

Our helpful and knowledgeable EMCP staff will be stationed around the parent/bus drop-off locations to help you find your classes. Please see our campus map for directions. The EMCP team will also have a home base in 210 Tory building during the week.

Eating on campus

The follow food services will be available on campus

  • Starbucks Page Break, Tim Hortons Athletics, and Food Court starting May 1st
  • The follow food services will be available on campus.
  • The caf in residence commons will be open to the public starting May 4th
  • The Food Truck, Subway, Shawarma Palace Food Truck starting May 5th
Activities during the week

We have booked spaces around campus for you to stay active during lunch time! Students are welcome to bring their own sports equipment, or EMCP will provide some equipment as well. Please see the spaces booked and the days they are available below.

Applying to Carleton in the future?

The EMCP Award of Excellence is an annual scholarship given to previous participants of EMCP to acknowledge the participants' hard work in the program. There are five scholarships valued at $1,000 each. The scholarships are given to the five candidates with the highest academic averages among the eligible candidates who apply for the award.
