This mini-course covers saving, budgeting, and the magic of compound interest, along with a beginner’s look at investing. Through interactive activities and real-life examples, participants will learn how everyday decisions impact their financial future. By the end, they’ll gain practical skills to make smart spending choices, set financial goals, and understand the foundations of growing wealth—all while having fun and exploring their inner “teen tycoon”!

Biography

Hello, my name is Kayla, and I am currently a second-year PhD student in Economics.I have a solid foundation in teaching and supporting students, as I currently serve as a Teaching Assistant for an undergraduate Econometrics course. This role has refined my skills in making complex topics more accessible and engaging, helping students connect with the material through examples that resonate with their experiences. Additionally, I frequently present economic research and lead discussions in academic settings, which has further strengthened my ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences. I’m excited about the opportunity to create a welcoming and engaging learning environment for young students and to introduce them to new areas of knowledge in a way that inspires curiosity and understanding.
