Course Description

Step into the world of app development and become an AI inventor! In this mini-course, students will learn how to create their own smart apps using MIT App Inventor. Discover how to use AI features like voice recognition, text-to-speech, and image classification to design apps that can talk, listen, and even identify pictures. Students will work on fun, interact and collaborate with peers, and develop problem-solving skills. By the end, they will bring creative ideas to life and make their own AI-powered apps—no prior coding experience needed! All they need is imagination and a passion to explore!

Biography

I am a dedicated and versatile professional currently pursuing a Master of Digital Transformation and Innovation, with a concentration in Applied Data Science, at the University of Ottawa. My academic journey includes a Master of Science degree in Management of Information Systems from the University of Warwick, UK, and a Bachelor of Science in International Business Management from the University of Nottingham, UK. With a multidisciplinary background spanning Applied Data Science, Information System Management, and International Business, I bring a well-rounded perspective to complex problem-solving and innovation. My strong communication and leadership skills have been honed through my experience as a teaching assistant for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) at Ningbo Xiaoshi International Center, where I excelled in teaching, tutoring, and organizing interactive workshops. I am passionate about education, very patient with students, and will empathize with students. Additionally, I have over three years of experience in computational thinking, agile development, and delivering technical presentations tailored to clients with non-IT backgrounds. This experience has equipped me with the ability to bridge the gap between technical concepts and practical teaching activities, making technology accessible and impactful.
