Course Description

Join me for an introduction to Women in Greek myths and Classical literature! We will journey to the ancient Mediterranean world to learn about the origins of your favourite myths and superheroes. Learn about the fascinating and complicated women that made the famous stories possible. In this course we discuss the important and varied roles that women play in Greek Mythology. From warriors and witches, to mothers and wives, unsurprisingly, women have played the role of heroines and villainesses throughout time. If you like stories of guts and gore, and women with wild hair made of snakes -this course is for you! Please note: This course deals with content that concerns sexuality and sexual violence.

Biography

My name is Emily, and I am PhD Student in Philosophy. My other credentials include graduate degrees that focus on Classical Philosophy, Myth and World Religions. I love history, storytelling and thinking about how these narratives shape our every-day lives. In my spare time I am and doing yoga or cross-country skiing, or with my cats, knitting and sewing.
