Course Description
Data is everywhere! Every time we use the internet, play a game, or talk to our friends online, we're creating data. But what is data, really? How does it shape our world? What does it tell us about the communities we live in? This course is all about Digital Cultures, a field that mixes technology with questions about culture and society. You’ll learn how to collect, organize, and visualize data using cool digital tools! You’ll learn about the information, media, and technology you come across every day and get hands-on experience working with data to tell stories about the world!
Biography
I am an associate professor of digital humanities in the School of Information Studies, and coordinator of the Digital Cultures program (Faculty of Arts). As Coordinator I am responsible not just for undergraduate programming, but in developing workshops for students and professionals through the DH Toolbox series and the Digital Humanities Summer Institute: Technologies East.
