Course Description
In What’s That Noise??, students will explore the exciting and diverse world of music and sound through hands-on, interdisciplinary activities. Over five days, participants will discover new ways to think about sound and music, while learning how the skills developed in a music degree can open up a variety of creative opportunities. Through interactive activities, discussions, and creative projects, students will gain insights into how artists and professionals think and create beyond traditional contexts. Throughout the week, students will engage in both group and individual projects, allowing for personal exploration and creative expression. On the final day, participants will have the opportunity to share their work in a showcase for family.Each day of the course focuses on different topics and creative techniques, including music and sound technologies, sound design in media, improvisation and extended performance techniques, and more!
Whether you’re a beginner or have some musical experience, this course invites all learners to experiment with sound in fun and innovative ways. No prior musical background is required, but if you do have experience, you'll have the opportunity to bring and incorporate your skills into the creative process. Whether you're just starting out or already familiar with music, you'll find exciting ways to explore and experiment with sound.
